Webinar: Bracing design in Vertex BD
This webinar will help steel frame detailers working within the light gauge steel industry, apply correct capacities to a brace based on the height and width of the brace.
Bracing is a requirement for all building designs and using Vertex BD bracing design will help achieve the capacity values required.
During this session you will learn how:
-
To activate the K, Z and strap braces along with the required parameters to use the height and width for brace design.
-
Show the required capacity tables. Capacities are given by client’s engineer not by Vertex.
-
How inserting the brace is effected by the height and width, which will affect to used capacity.
-
Creating a bracing schedule which will include the overall bracing capacity achieved.

Monday September 22, 8:00 (UTC+3) / 15:00 (UTC +10)
This webinar will focus on the application of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in Vertex BD for the design and mechanical assessment of light gauge steel (LGS) members.
This session will provide a practical overview of how FEA can be used to support mechanical analysis and capacity checks. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of the theoretical background, workflow setup, and reporting process—along with the tool’s capabilities and limitations.
Topics Covered:
-
Fundamentals of beam theory and degrees of freedom in structural nodes
-
Setting up boundary conditions for a typical LGS wall panel
-
Adding loads and preparing the model for analysis
-
Solving the model and performing member capacity checks
-
Exporting calculation reports
This webinar is ideal for mechanical and material engineers interested in expanding their knowledge of FEA applications in light guage steel framing and improving their design accuracy with Vertex BD.

Tuesday October 21, 8:00 (UTC+3) / 15:00 (UTC +10)
This 30 minute live session + Q&A is tailored for frame detailers who want to add vertical sheet cladding to frames and automatically generate studs based on sheet layout. We’ll walk through the workflow in Vertex BD, showing you how to set up defaults, manage panel breaks, and streamline detailing.
You’ll learn how to:
- Add framing tools to the cladding layer
- Set defaults so sheets automatically generate studs
- Define sheet origin points
- Break panels to align with studs
- Configure corner details effectively
Who should attend
- Frame detailers looking to integrate sheet cladding into their workflow
- Engineers evaluating stud-generation methods in Vertex BD
- Builders seeking ways to streamline detailing for accuracy and speed
